How about references

Make sure you have the publications listed by the testing organization that they used to develop the test. The test is open book and as long as you know where to find the answers, then you shouldn't have much trouble.  Except for questions that will be asked in solving engineering calculations and problems that you don't typically run into everyday!  Are you ready.  The test is a real challenge!!

  1. You will be challenged with questions regarding mechanical codes from the Ohio Mechanical Code
  2. You will be challenged in your understanding of OSHA safety codes from the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1926.
  3. You will be challenged about Fuel Gas Piping and Fuel Gas Codes from the NFPA National Fuel Gas Code.
  4. You will be challenged from the NFPA 90A regarding installation requirements and codes for fire prevention.
  5. You will be challenged from NFPA 58 regarding Propane and Liquefied Gas.
  6. You will be challenged from ACCA Manual N, J and D.  You must understand load calculations and have a good understanding of Duct Construction and Ductulator Use.
  7. You will be challenged regarding Pipe Fitting Methods, terms, and layouts using the Pipefitter's Manual.
  8. You will be challenged about your knowledge of duct board and duct construction standards using the Naima Duct Construction Standards Manual.

Not all of the answers come from manuals.  You must understand and have an in-depth knowledge of service practices, along with the ability to think and understand service methods.  Good study references are the ARI Manual and Trane Manual.

A great study source for those wanting to spend a few months preparing is a study manual and reference materials offered on this website.  The course named "For those who are very busy" will indeed give you enough knowledge to allow you to be successful.  Give it a try and prepare to study, study, study!!!
